As a self-identified "recovering perfectionist," this sounds very familiar. *Perfectionism thrives on certainty.* When the promises of certainty - if you do this for God, then you'll get this from God - failed to bring the expected outcomes, that led to me questioning the validity of those promises. And one by one, I found that they were flawed ideas at best and completely fictional in some cases.

I can certainly relate to your past experience. A lot of familiar names and familiar church groups. Fortunately, I also relate to your deconstruction and questioning of what I was taught over the years.
